YAY!

Jose Antonio is so such a sweet kid. Once he learned my name he always greeted me and gave me a huge hug! He is a very genuine kid and is doing great in class here!

Jose Antonio is my sponsor child and I can’t believe how much he’s grown since I first met him last year. He is probably one of the least talkative kids in the club, but has so much love to share. When he makes arts and crafts at the club, if he can he’ll write my name on it and say it’s a gift for me. His heart is a reflection of his Mom who is just an angel. She is so warm and each hug is so full of love that it brings me to tears every time I see her. It’s families like theirs that make Puerto Plata my home away from home.

Hola!

Wow! What a summer we've had! We can barely believe it's already almost over! The kids have certainly evnjoyed having such a great break from school and we've loved getting to spend so much time with them! We've gone to being in the club 5 days a week and the kids couldn't be happier to be spending so much time in the club, with their teachers, friends, and other volunteers learning the things that they're learning. We love summer!

Summer Photos

In July, during a 2 week trip to volunteer with DOVE, Jenny and Jencen met and fell in love with Jose Antonio and his family. They had a lot of fun with him and at the end of the trip, decided to sponsor him and his family. This will provide the family with vouchers for groceries every month.






Jose Antonio with his old teacher. He attended Conani school when he was younger- the only school in Puerto Plata that goes year round and provides free, all day care for the kids of underpriveleged families. This teacher was very fond of Jose Antonio and insisted on a picture of them together, requesting a copy of it to go in her house.

Wood Working

In July, Jose Antonio was able to participate in a special class on wood working. For several days, Jose Antonio went with Dove Missions and learned how to work with wood to make benches for the new club location. This is a great opportunity as knowing a trade can really help the kids in finding a job when they are older.
